Name: Mizuno You

Personality:

Mizuno is, to be quite frank, still very much a child. She goes through life with boundless energy, ignoring silly societal rules like "Believing magic is only for children," "you shouldn't talk to animals," "going into the boys' bathroom is forbidden if you're a girl, especially if there are boys using the urinals," or "you shouldn't ride on top of a bus because it's dangerous and COULD GET YOU KILLED." Understandably, Mizuno's regarded as a strange girl by her classmates.

As a result, she has few friends, but it doesn't seem to bother her in the slightest. She has animal friends, such as the crow Cawsuke and the little yellow fox Vice President. She has her crush, Takuto Tsunashi, who saved Cawsuke's baby when it was about to fall out of its nest and who tolerates her eccentricities. And she has the drama club; even though she mostly just joined because of Vice President and Takuto, she enjoys it and seems to like the people in it (even though Takuto's her favorite, of course.)

But most importantly, she has Marino. Marino protects Mizuno, cares for her, and likes all of the same things as her. And even though she's the West (shrine) maiden and there are people who want to break the seal she bears as a result who are willing to use force to do it, she's never had to worry about it because Marino's there to worry about it for her. This is because, instead of being Mizuno's twin, Marino is her clone, created for these purposes. When it comes down to it, Mizuno was a scared, lonely girl who felt abandoned by her parents, and she created Marino to avoid having to deal with it by herself. Because it's easier not to have to think of the bad things.

Sample:

She taps the end of the pencil against the notepad, pursing her lips in thought. Mizuno wants to draw some really good pictures of things from back home to show the people she's met here. She already drew Vice President and Night Flight, but she's drawing a blank now.

She knows there's a boy she had a crush on back home. He's kind and strong and gentle and cool, but she can't remember his name. And now that she's trying to draw him, she realizes she can't remember his face, either.

Oh well, she thinks as she erases it. It wasn't a very good drawing anyway.

Mizuno closes the notepad, sitting up and kicking her legs back and forth. "Hey, Marino?~ Could we have ice cream again today?"

She already knows the answer.
